A quick overview of flooring nailers
There are more options available to homeowners these days for the installation of hardwood floors than ever before. Self installation has become popular and while this can help people save money this can also lead to a new set of challenges, such as finding the tools needed to do a professional job themselves. Right now I’m going to look at some of the products available for hardwood flooring nailers.
Flooring nailers can be expensive and since they literally are what will hold together your flooring product they’re one of the most important tools that you can have. They are a bit pricey so it’s important to get one that you’ve researched and are confident in. Most of the high end models come with a very nice warranty. You can also rent these tools at most hardwood stores but the problem with that is that if the project drags you could end up spending even more money. Also, since you’re renting, there’s a good chance you’ll feel compelled to finish and rush. Rushing is the bedmate of error and since this whole ordeal is expensive and time consuming you want it done right.
As far as hardwood flooring nailers go there are two different types of nail guns. There are pneumatic and manual nailers. Now pneumatic nailers use compressed air to drive their nails home while manual nailers uses your arm strength. There are pros and cons associated with each type naturally. Pneumatic nailers are heavier and have to be hooked up to a compressor, so you have to drag the hose wherever you go. Manual nailers can tire you out and on occasion they’ve been known to not sink nails as well as pneumatic nailers.
An important thing to do before you decide on what type of flooring nailer you’re going to use is how you’re going to go about your flooring project. Are you going to be a weekend warrior and finish small chunks of the project at a time or are you going to set a week aside where you’re going to try and get everything done? These are just some of the questions you should have the answers to before you begin.
